Fast, even. Since the book covers this short period of time, the action is constant, the movement is the hallmark of Cormon’s novelistic characters. But it is not a movement that scares or prevents more reflective actions (…). In short, O Grande Dia has many virtues. A pleasant surprise due to the author’s commitment to portraying something that seems very dear to him. A narrative that pleases with its rhythm, its theme and that may still bring some surprises at the end. In addition, its characters make up an interesting mosaic of the diversity of culture not only of Carnival, but of Brazilian society itself.
